Re: Hand break adjustment

Despite the obviously poor and inadequate design when I did mine (all new components and cable) I incorrectly adjusted them (far too tight on the shoe clearance) The MOT place was only a mile or so down the road so I didn't notice the brakes starting to overheat. Oddly when the car had the front/rear braking efficiency checked on the roller - and finally the parking brake, amazingly it showed up at a higher efficiency than the the rears only Banghead

So following that for every MOT I tightened the clearances - and 'backed' them off when I returned home Yes

Re: Hand break adjustment

LSD as in mind bending drug - Pounds, Shillings and Pence or Limited Slip Diff? - if the latter it was no issue as rollers are independently powered (this conversation has been on before hasn't it?)

Re: Hand break adjustment

Just surprised they used the rollers in that case Ross. MOT man who did that with mine a couple of years ago got something of a shock when the car nearly leaped across the workshop.

Latest bloke just drove round the block and tested them out on the road after I had mentioned that there was a lsd

Good idea of yours with the handbrake Clap But it's a time consuming faff

nah Bill - jack the car up - axle stands - crawl underneath with a couple of open enders - 15 minute job. Only the cable adjuster (not the shoes) Yes
