If you use it sensibly and don't put on personal stuff it's fine and you can block people and ads as you see fit..

Not disagreeing with your comment, but I thought Bill our previous Events Secretary did a splendid job in keeping us informed of Events.

But obviously he could not cater for every local event of a smaller nature.

Please keep your posts coming.

For the benefit of the Club, Members and Forum we may find things we can change / improve that creates more interest / traffic to and on the Website.

Is it the case that many of you already partake in Social Media (Facebook) and so it is the obvious place whilst you are there to bring up Vette related information /activities or is it to communicate with your circle of Vette Heads?

A 'Heads-Up' fella's - when we eventually 'renew' this forum/website (and that will be sooner rather than later) some of the things we will try to improve/simplify will be A. interfacing on social media B. photo/image hosting C. removing some of the current areas of the forum that are never used and are perhaps 'cluttering-up' the present web pages and simply make things far easier and user friendly,

Re: Amazing

From an outsider as myself, interesting subject. I abandoned FB early on, just too much BS to page through and unwanted contacts. Have no desire to establish anything there.

I think my first forum participation was Corvette Forum which I believe started back in '99. Then a bunch of other Corvette related forums started cropping up over the years which I joined.

After you've posted maybe thousands of times anything from news to just plain silly stuff, it gets old and especially for me now at my age, it's sometimes a challenge to find a subject that you think would be interesting to others. Most of the time, it's just a rehash of what's been posted earlier or someplace else.

I just don't spend as much time on forums like I used to, being retired, I spend a lot of time on club activities (262 members strong), staying active keeping the Vettes up, driving them when I can, and of course, attention to family, which is the priority.

Occasionally, I too on this forum, as on others, have been the "victim" Very Happy of barely a response to a thread or post. Not complaining, I realize sometimes what I post is not of interest to the majority or not anybody. I am guilty of the same thing, I find the subject boring or I'm not interested, I won't make a comment either. It's just the nature of the beast.

Of course forums are basically social outlets where like minded folks can express or exchange ideas in writing vs. yapping on the phone, which I'm not a big fan of......yapping on the phone. Very Happy

As long as the bills are being paid here and folks still post, looks like it will be around a while. I find this place an alternative to many other forums in the states, I get a different perspective of how the Corvette is a part of one's life on the other side of the pond. Thumbs up

Re: Amazing

As you say Norm, everything is a rehash - but as older members drop off and new one's join (at the rate of 3 or 4 a week atm), there will always be people on here where things are new.

To me it all works nicely when everyone is friendly and courteous - there's no room for smart arse talk and trying to put the other guy down.

When the new website comes live we will broadcast it loudly in Vette News to encourage more of the membership to get involved.

And yes Norm, we are interested in what goes on in Delmarva - even if we don't say so Laughing

Having a lot of bhp is all very well, but on these forums it's torque that counts

She wore a bran’ new jersey,
Oh, why did Calla ‘phone ya,
She called to say how ar’ ya,
That’s why she did call.
What did Mrs sip?
Through her pretty lips?
She sipped a mina-soda.
Oh, where as Ore gone.
She went to pay her taxes.
Oh, how did Wiscon sin.
She stole a new brass key.
Too bad that Arkan saw.
And so did Tenne see?
It made poor Flora die.
She died in misery.
Oh, what did Della wear?

Somewhat butchered from Irving Gordon music.
Very Happy

Re: Amazing

Norm, I'm one of those interested in the US perspective, even if I too sometimes don't reply! Rolling Eyes

I know what you mean about things being the same. I had a similar conversation with a long tome member of CCCUK about 20 years ago, Even then he felt he'd "seen-it, done-it" and wondered why the "new kids" got so excited about it all Smile I said then that for them it was all new, yet now I'm sometimes finding myself thinking as he did back then. I definitely now enjoy a different kind of Corvette/classic car event than I did 10 or 15 years ago....

But, as one of my best liked TV presenters over in the UK says, "every day is a school day" and sometimes we even get to be the teachers Very Happy

Re: Amazing

Those who have maybe tried Fb have probably seen an awful lot of dross and decided that it wasn't, understandably, for them. However, Fb has enough tools to enable you to customise it to suit yourself if you take a closer look.

My own Fb account, and I rarely use It, is very focussed upon a few groups that interest me. I rarely see anything else including adverts and any that do get through are blocked as are people who post them. It is what you want it to be. In days gone by, I used the web to find events but now, events that interest me are almost exclusive to Fb groups.

I know Fb does not like people like me but that's too bad..

Re: Amazing

For me being one of the "younger" ones the ease of use is an app rather than a web page

It's easy when you are on the train to just click on the FB icon and read away, same with instagram, whch also gives you an indication something has popped up on your feed

Alot of forum sites are not that "mobile" friendly, so if you are not retired the odds are you may be trying to read stuff/comment on the go...
