Gonna 'pull' one of the 'rod' caps though - just to check bearing surface Yes

Excuse the poetic verse
Glad that it is not worse,
Hope ok when you remove a Cap or two
The engine you could have blew,
Did you not hear a noise of the rod hitting the tray,
Or was it just lost in the general noise in the usual way?

When driving a vehicle with so much 'poke'
Hearing anything 'untoward' in the cabin is really a bit of a joke
No, I didn't hear the con rod make any strange noise or even 'clatter'
Not that now it is of any real matter
The oil pump itself will be consigned to history
However what caused it (for the moment) remains a mystery.

May I remind you

It has got no poke

When it is broke

But most glad

It is not too bad

You are a better poet than I

But at least my Vette can still fly

Your sentences are longer than mine

Hope the Vette is soon back together and fine.

I don't want CCCUK other members (and especially you) Barry Daytona
To think for even a second that I am a bit of a tart and geriatric old moaner
Its just that having owned and driven the car now for more than eighteen years
I have inevitably come to the conclusion that it most certainly appears
That I'm unlikely to be using the Vette again in anger for a little while
Which, for our complaining neighbours will certainly raise a wry smile

Update
'Pulled' a cap off a rod - surprisingly it looks good. Journal is still 'polished' - what appear to be 'rotary' scratches on shell are 'polished' high spots. No sign of 'blueing' or burnishing.
