Engine Number

Hi there guys is there anybody out there who can tell me where to find the engine No on my 2004 Z06,american spec?My car at present is being shipped to the Uk as we speak, however having gone through all of my paperwork I cannot find anything showing the engine No of the car.I have spoken to several Chevy dealers in USA who were unable to help and state that they only ever use the Vin No when a a veh is registered or titled in theUSA.Do I require the engine No to register the veh in the UK or will they accept just the Vin No,thanks Ray.

Hi Tim thanks for the information with regards to the whereabouts of the engine No.Did you register your vehicle here in the UK or did you purchase the vehicle in the UK,thanks Ray.

Re: Engine Number

Looking at the pattern of C5's on the database, it seems to follow the rule below.

The last eight digits (1st on is a letter) with a 1 in front.

i.e. if your VIN number is: 1G1YY####V5123456
your engine number should be: 1V5123456

Hope this helps.

You should not need the engine number to register the vehicle in the UK. I registered mine in January with just the VIN. As long as you have an orginal US title document it should be very straight forward.

Re: Engine Number

The engine block’s casting number is on the rear of the drivers side cylinder bank of every Gen III/IV V-8 block

The guys are correct. You dont need it as DVLA will accept the VIN and title
