C5 Z06, 2003/04 model

HI there I have just recently purchased a Corvette Z06,2003/04 model with 3500 miles on itand at this moment in time it is being shipped from LA to Felixstowe. The rear lights have been replaced with the Euro Spec lights showing amber and also the marker lights on both rear n/s & o/s have also been replaced with amber lights instead of red.I am aware that I have to fit a fog light to the rear on the o/side and also repeater lights to both front wings, however i'm concerned about the front indicators and front sidelights as the Z06 has the front running light incorporated with the front indicator obviously with a double filament bulb.Is there anybody that can help me out with this problem or can anybody point me in the direction who will carry out this professionally and not try to rip me off, thanksRay

The only people I could recommend are Teslayn Engineering (Classic Amcar) based near Bicester.

http://www.teslaynengineering.co.uk/amcar/CA_home.shtml

They carry out the work to a very high standard & had a full write up in Classic American a while back.

Also used by Nigel Dobbie I think. Scratchchin

Give them a call. 01869 601 028 Thumbs up

Firstly, well done on your purchase.

All you need to know for the SVA is here, but there have been some changes since that article was produced so you may need to check, but you should be able to overcome the DRL issue.

Re: C5 Z06, 2003/04 model

My first 2003 was done by Teslayn, they also did my C6 Z06.

I did my second 2003 C5 Z06 myself as it was actually very easy to do if you have half a brain and the necessary tools.
I fitted the side repeaters into the side slits of the front wings rather than drill holes in the wings. I also removed the front indicator units, and drilled a hole for a bulb holder for the side lights and also inserted a piece of plastic into a slot I cut with a hack saw to separate the side light from the indicator / DLR.
To disable the DLR you need to remove a couple of relays from the fuse box in the passenger footwell and then bridge across a couple of contacts so that the indicators still work (if you look this up on the internet there is a set of instructions done by Lusifer over on Pistonheads including lots of pictures.)
You will also need to run a wire to the side repeaters from the indicator unit.

I also did the rear foglight and again this is relatively simple if you understand car electrics.

All told I think it cost me about £50 in parts and a weekend of work to get it all done but that did also include the rear indicators and wiring loom which was about $400 on top of the £50.

Congrats on your purchase! I shipped my C5Z to the UK when i transferred back here about a year ago. I too did all the SVA conversion work myself, as it is pretty straight forward, especially if you follow Lusifer's instructions mentioned before.

One thing to note, is it will be IVA rather than SVA for your Type Approval now, but i am guessing the requirements are no different for US imports in this regard - they will probably just take more money from you!

I also noticed you changed your rear side-markers for amber - I don't believe this was a requirement for SVA as mine passed with the original domestic market red lens'.

I found the best place for the rear fog light was in the centre between the exhausts - that way you can hang from a bracket on the bumper, rather than drill into the flexible bumper cover (rear fascia) on the off-side.

You may also need to mount a front parking or side-light, although I am not sure if Euro-spec front headlamps already have this incorporated. I found the best place to get the OEM Euro export side-lights was from Keith at Euro-vettes.

If you go for T85 lamps you can mount a sidelight into the headlight unit.
