Hi all, first post and first question!

Could anyone tell me the size of the male square drive on the differential fill plug?

I think a standard 1/2" drive fitted mine. I didn't need a special tool and with my basic workshop gear it must have been something simple.

Sorry Golden. I've given you a bum steer there. I've just been out to check and I wasn't even imagining the correct shape for the plug. I thought it was a female socket needing a male tool. Rolling Eyes

So I've measured it for you. It needs a 5/8" spanner.

For some reason these things always seem to be done-up extra tight have the 'open ender' slip off the two flats when trying to undo (they are only a grap cast plug after all). Iv'e had better luck using as large an adjustable 'open ender' as possible and using a bit of extra leverage if possible.
