2010 Grand Sport

•Replaces the Z51 package at $6,000 more than base car.

•436 bhp LS3 build differs between manual and auto transmissions. Manual car engines are hand-built alongside LS7 and LS9 and have a dry sump oil system. Automatics use the normal LS3.

•Launch control standard on manual transmission cars.

•Z06 brakes and anti-roll bars are standard.

•Wide Z06 style body without carbon fibre.

•Springs and dampers unique to Grand Sport suit steel chassis car just 150 lb heavier than Z06.

•"The Grand Sport is considerably less tense and more compliant and stable than a Z06. It has a more mellow character like the ZR1. Turn-in is a little slower due to the extra mass and softer suspension but it's predictable. Better balanced than a Z06 when on the throttle - less skittish. An easy car to drive fast and hold slip angles. Lap times run dangerously close to the Z06."

•"Nearly $20,000 less than Z06 the Grand Sport is a screamingly good deal. Failing Chevrolet upgrading the Z06 with ZR1 parts I know which model I'd buy", says Road & Track.

Sheep in wolfish-like clothing? -
Admission by GM that Z06 was perhaps not the 'all rounder' they had hoped it would be? -
An attempt to get additional Vette sales by allowing the 'association' to be made by punters with Z06/ZR1 for 'only $6K extra?.
I still think that the styling/marketing of the ZR1 (for a $100K car) was flawed. That hood Banghead it could have been so classy Yes

Very tempting - goes close to the top of my 'what to buy in the US when I'm working out there next year' thinking list...(current no 1 place is 2SS Camaro)

2001 Navy Blue coupe with Magnaflow, short throw, iForged Aeros, Vortex Ram Air induction, Hotchkiss sway bars, drilled and slotted rotors, powder coated calipers and a whole lot more under the hood. Loving the South Carolina cruising...
