FranV8, I used my paint gun!

Fran, since you made me feel guilty about having the gear and not using it, decided to break out the gun and paint the new block Chevy orange. What do you think?

To be truthful Ray, I'm a little miffed. You're going to end up with a C4 that will be better than when it left the factory, and whatever I do I'm unlikely to end up with the same quality of end result.

Seriously, lovely job. What paint did you use? Bet you were pleased with the result and had to keep going back and looking at it whilst it was drying.

Colour - big throwback to small and big blocks of the sixties? You'l have to polish your heads now!

I used POR15. The normal POR15 underneath and then the POR15 Engine Enamel topcoat. I didn't get the chance to keep looking while it was drying. I shot it and then drove down to Cambs for my work week. Didn't get to see it until I got home Sunday morning. I installed the freeze plugs and snapped a few shots. Just put in the cam bearings tonight.

I couldn't decide on the factory black or the Chevy orange of old. Finally went with the classic. Not sure if I'll polish those AFR heads or not. I'll certainly think about it!

Looking good Ray, how's the progress with the rest of the car?

As you mentioned it, there is, as you would expect a tool for installing cam bearings. You line up the bearing, fit the tool and hammer it in.

Haven't done much with the rest of the car, but will get on it as soon as the engine is built.

Nice Ray. You really ought be setting up your own Corvette shop!

I see you have 4 bolt mains, I didn't think these were stock on the C4?

And I'd love to measure up your x-brace!

Quite right. As you'll recall from the earlier posts with pics of my original block, it was a two bolt main. This the the late model replacement roller block with 4 bolt mains I decided to go with when I opted to keep my original block all original.
