TPMS Batteries

Well the TPMS OSF has finally given up the ghost, not bad after 11 years I suppose, anyway have decided to have a go at changing the battery before spending a fortune on a new sender, but am having trouble getting the battery in the UK and I know there was some talk a while ago of someone on here importing a few from the States, just wondering if it ever happened?
If there are none around I guess I will get from the States so if anyone is interested its probably cheaper due to minimum orders to bring in several, but it would be better if there were one in the UK.
For info battery is panasonic br2477a van lithium 24.5mm 3v 1000mah
Mike.

Just checking but I assume you have a Euro Vette?

Re: TPMS Batteries

Tutorial for the older expensive TPMs, presumably similar to euros:

Re: TPMS Batteries

Thanks Tim but totally different animal, wont stand the varying temperatures or agressive use plus I think the amh is fairly low as well, I have looked everywhere in the UK but even Digikey who supply in the US dont do that battery in their UK operation.
Also thanks to Dee Gee, I have seen the tutorials and understand the process but no good without the right battery, and yes mine is a 2001 Euro car but has the early sensors (no idea why) so I may consider the conversion kit available for changing to the later cheaper sensors, the kit comes complete with correct key fobs and later module all for around the price of four of the early sensors, but I will try the battery first if I can find one.

Re: TPMS Batteries

You could always consider sending the TPM sensor to Corvette Don on The Corvette Forum. He's been rebuilding them for years and has refurbished hundreds of them. Presumably he has easy access to batteries in the US. As a used part it's tax free on re-importing.

Why not order some via the interweb, loads of company's sell them on line.

Here's a DIY http://www.c5help.com/tps_replace.htm

Re: TPMS Batteries

Tried that, unfortunately these seem to be a bit specialised and only available via digikey and other americam sites, I have emailed a couple but cant even get a response, the sites wont let me order online direct, hence the call for someone visiting the states.

Re: TPMS Batteries

Ok found a source for these TPMS batteries Thumbs up they are around £2.50 each but with shipping that rises to over £6 each if I order 5, or £4.30 if I order 10 etc etc.
So I will place an order in the next week or so, if anyone else wants any please let me know as it will make it more cost effective all round.
Respond on here or PM me with required quantity
Mike
