No. I'll be back to building the buggies this summer after taking a long break to pay off my mortgage (which is now done). The Corvette is an opportunity that came out of the blue. I've always liked them but I hadn't considered buying one until I discovered that my Mum's friend a) had one and b) is moving house and has to get rid of it.

For those that don't know, I'm currently building this for me:

Absolutely love the buggy project. Touch of the Mad Max about it which appeals to my dark side. Yes LOL

I paid £3300 for my 82 as a non runner, partially stripped, with a box of new spares worht about £1000. I bought it blind on ebay without even going to see it.

From looking at your pics I would pay easily the same amount for this one. £2k is stealing it really. If you could get this just to a running MOT'd standard and give the interior a proper clean up I expect you could get £4500-£5000 for it.

As far as costs go then there are so many nasties that can rack up £££'s. For example, say the radiator is clogged or leaking. £300! Say the tyres are shot - £500. Calipers all round - £800 min. That's just 3 things that will make little difference to the overall look of the car but you've done a grand and a half.

I'm with some of the other comments - get someone else to give that vital second opinion as you will miss stuff in the 'I reeaaally need this car' shopping mode. Laughing

Worth £3k if it's worth a shechel. Thumbs up

Interesting thread, I too am in a very similar position bringing in a Vette "project" in from California. Its a runner and will arrive with lots of new parts.
Thumbs up
The way I am looking at it is that over time with a bit of hard work, and parting with a few folded, I might end up with a nice wee runner. If I get out of my depth I'll ask for help. If it runs away I'll punt it on...

I will also be pestering you guys for advice as well.
Very Happy
