Cancel the Insurance

The insurance has just gone up from £648 to £1220 per annum on my Cavalier.

I have just cancelled it.

Insurance hikes not just affecting the motor trade.

You might just like this:

My Cavalier is not a Vauxhall, but a King Charles.

My boy is 13 years of age.

Sainsbury's Pet Insurance will take your money throughout the life of the pet and then decide that they are going to cash in big time.

Sorry it is not a Motor related thread, but it is Vet related.

Re: Cancel the Insurance

Very few companies are offering or renewing pet insurance now - I'm going to guess its a similar reason as to why car insurances have skyrocketed - I suppose when a vet dosn't need to ask the pet owner if he can afford hi-tech treatment at £K's each time and the insurance covers it? - our Standard Poodle is 11 years old, not insured and has cost us upwards of £2.5K for some major operations to date. This is less than the cost of insuring him over the same period!

Re: Cancel the Insurance

Exactly so Rosco, I have also just cancelled my Bupa as it is penalistic, goes up every year as I get older - should have been more astute when I was younger - paid in to my own Bank as my own Insurance cover, if I needed it. But I didn't think about it, because money was easier in days gone by.

Different with a car, it is a legal requirement, but when I was younger I was cained on Insurance for sports car versus age and now that I have been driving for 44 years, with only one fault claim for a door skin.

I am being cained for all the Insurance scammers and the Insurance companies subbing out their Claims Management to companies that regardless, argue with you and insist you have suffered a whiplash injury, or some sort of trauma. ( That is what happened to my daughter recently - they just wanted to fraudulently engross the claim, based on personal injury, when she had sustained none).

Re: Cancel the Insurance

We have three dogs and getting on a bit, 13 year old Manchester Mongral,12 year old Novia Scotia Duck Tolling Retreiver and 10 year BC.
Due to the silly costs of insurance then we decided to risk it and stopped paying pet insurance and instead opened the dogs a bank account and put away £30.00 a month. At least this way we knew the money was ours and safe.
That was 6 years and we haven't used the vets yet. Got a tidy sum in the account at the moment. Hmm!! Confused

Re: Cancel the Insurance

Our Milli (White German Shepherd Dog) is 10½ and has been epileptic since her 3rd birthday. She also has hip dysplasia (common in GSDs) so she has cost Saga a fortune over the years.

At least they guarantee to offer renewal cover but of course they could make the premium prohibitive. We reckon we were £144 to the good last year by insuring her at a lower cover level. We've just had the renewal invitation in with a substantial increase.

It's probably marginal to insure or not insure her as far as treatment's concerned but the £1M Public Liability cover swung it. She's not aggressive (despite some people's idea of GSDs) but if some chav's progeny provokes her into biting, we're covered.

Re: Cancel the Insurance

ridiculous aint it. Wife got hit by a driver from behind and the other driver fessed up to the police it was their fault. Within two hours a claims management co rang up and asked if we wanted a range rover whilst our 6 year old citroen c3 was being repaired. we said no send the cheapest car you have. a new VW GTI arrived on a trailer and was from a different firm altogether, we told them to take it back but he was quite happy to leave it parked up even though we refused the keys. The other firm lent us an Astra and after the two day repair the wife left the astra at the car repair shop and they did not pick it up for three weeks to whack the bill up. The hire company sent the repo men to our house. The whole episode was shamefull on everyone concerned.
