Re: Door solenoid???

I've tried that but still puts a lot of stress on the key.

I think that if I can the passenger side going that will be worth being able to lock/unlock that side from the drivers seat (it is after all a long way to lean over!!) but I think I can manage to lock/unlock the drivers door using the manual lever.

Re: Door solenoid???

You will find the soloniod mechanism of the door lock will have old dry grease inside which is why its so stiff. No amount of external lube is really going to help. You might get by squirting WD down it's throat after lifting the small rubber boot off the tip (which will promptly disintegrate in your finger tips with old age Very Happy )

They are not hard to disassemble and rebuild, I did both mine ok and they work fine. Very crude mechanism and easy to put back together. It's not really a solonoid but a rack and pinion electric motor. Just take care not to damage the fine wires on the armature.

What I did find when rebuilding all my door internals was there was a lot of siezed pivot points and dried up hard to move stuff generally so blast and lube everything that moves, it aint gonna hurt!

I didn't think the solenoid could be dismantled but you have got me thinking now!!

So if I remove the four small (but long) bolts does the plastic body just pull apart? Is there anything else I should know (such as little springs that will pop out as soon as I open it up)?

Just the 4 screws hold it together and nothing pops out Clap
Man put it together - man can take it apart. Yes

Thanks Jonny, did what you said so now have a working solenoid in the drivers door.

If only adjusting the window were so easy, spent ages trying to get it right but it still stops about quarter of an inch from the top if the door is closed, ok if the door is open.

Re: Door solenoid???

Send me an email to jon at firstpowerservices dot com.

I will scan the page from the assembly manual on window glass adjustment procedure and send it over to you when I get a mo. There is a proper order to do the adjustments in but I believe even the factory mention 'lube' on the rubber to help.

Must admit that I am not looking forward to putting mine back together and getting it all aligned up, even with shiny new bits and free moving parts! I just know those fat new window seals are going to give me the same issues.
