Passenger door lock.

I can't seem to be able to unlock the passenger door, either with the button or key. Anybody had anything like this happen to theirs? Banghead

Can you get the door card off?

Not sure if yiu can get the card off with the door closed, without breaking something!

Is the key and/or the button jammed or are they doing something, you may be able to hear it trying to throw the lever? If that may be working but the mechanism is jammed, pushing the door quite forcibly from the outside against the rubber while working the handle may free it up!

Also are we talking power locks? I've just had the door on my '75 apart (no central locking) and I'm not really sure on the differences in the mechanicals if there is also a solenoid in there!

Re: Passenger door lock.

Had this happen on my 82 where it had been stood for ages. There is a pivot point that diverts the vertical door lock rod to the horizontal rod that goes to the interior handle area. This rod operates the locking mech. The pivot point seizes with rust and you cant use the lock. I managed to free mine by repeatedly jiggling it as hard as I dare then dumped a can of WD into the door and never locked it again before my restoration started. When I started restoring the door I found this part was so siezed that I could only free it with a blow lamp.

If you can unlock the other door then get someone to giggle the key outside while you work the lock from inside. Maybe the two together will be enough to free it up. You will be able to force the inside lock one harder as it is direct onto the pivot, the outside one is tandem with other lock parts and doesnt have much leverage.

Best of luck.
