Cars in the Park, Beacon Park, Lichfield, Staffs Sat 30th June / Sunday 1st July 2012
Calendar Event: 30 Jun 2012 - 01 Jul 2012
Cars in the Park 2012 takes place over the weekend of the 30th June/1st July.
This is a FREE event to exhibitors and there will be a club area at this event on BOTH days unless I hear otherwise from the Lichfield Rotary Club
Initially I was only going to book for the Saturday as I can't be there on the Sunday, but a mug (sorry- dedicated volunteer) has come forwards in the shape of Guy Waltham who will be there on the Sunday.
If you are coming to this event is ESSENTIAL that you tell me so and on which days (Sat/Sun or both). This is becuse I have asked for a space for 10 cars and will need to go begging if more turn up. PLEASE don't just turn up jn the day without advising me first as you won't get on the pitch unless I don't fill it
The Charity for 2012 is the Midlands Air Ambulance, and depending on operational circumstances it is hoped that one of their helicopters will be based there at the park for the weekend. For the adventurous they hope to have a helicopter simulator, plus of course you will be able to buy their merchandise from their shop.
The first bit of great news for 2012 is that the Olympic Torch will be travelling through Lichfield on the Saturday. There will be 15 different events going on in Lichfield that day and they will be opening the Park early so we can get parked up ready for the celebrations. The Caterers will also be open early for that early morning cuppa.
Booking forms will be available shortly on ttheir site to cover Camping, - please note they reached capacity at last years event so early booking is advised.
The Rotary Club don’t want to turn anybody away but space will be allocated on a first come first served basis with clubs who are attending on both days getting priority . Arrival time for campers not helping in the setup is 3pm onwards on the Friday
Please adhere to these times as they are only able to start setting out the park at 9am on the Friday . The Rotary Club has to pay nearly £1000 a day for the park so it is not possible for to start earlier.
As last year there will be no need for single entries to book in but all vehicles including clubs must be on site by 11am on both days(and I woul suggest much earlier on the Satyrday due to the Olympic events) as they cannot allow movement after this.
Also please remember that the park is not a racetrack - the speed limit is 5mph especially on the side road leading to the single entries and exit. This year, if the marshals believe you are speeding you will be asked to leave.
As the park comes under Road Traffic Act regulations please make sure you are carrying your insurance documents in case you are asked to provide them by the marshals.
Camping at Cars in the Park
This year there are 60 camping pitches available. The total cost for the weekend (Friday and Saturday nights) is £20 per pitch. Entry to the show is free this year so the charge for the pitch is the only charge. The facilities are:
Fresh Water via taps situated near the campsite
Toilets (male, female and disabled) will be hired by the Rotary Club and will be available from Friday afternoon for the duration of the show including Friday and Saturday overnight
Elson point available Sunday only
Security – The Rotary club have employed adequate security for overnight Friday and Saturday. Hours 7pm to 7 am
The camping area will be fenced off but this should not be regarded as a secure compound
There are adequate rubbish bins and/or skips
There are no shower facilities and no electric hook-ups. No barbecues are permitted during showtime but raised barbecues (which will not harm the grass) are allowed outside show hours.
Looking forward to seeing you all this year, please watch this post for further details and check out the Cars in the Park website

Current attendees are:
1.David Rushbrooke
2.Brian Gardom
3.Paul Panay
4.Mark George
5.John Lond
6.Guy Waltham
7. Nigel Dungworth
Note: Not all people are attending on both days so there are more free slots than might at first appear
If you are coming to this event and your name is not on that list it's ESSENTIAL that you tell me so and on which days (Sat/Sun or both). This is because I have asked for a space for 10 cars and will need to go begging if more turn up. PLEASE don't just turn up on the day without advising me first as you won't get on the pitch unless I don't fill it.
