Greetings.

I am after a pair of original spec amber taillights from a C4; similar to:

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Re: Amber taillights

I think the only place you can get them is http://claremont.corvette.co.uk/ as they manufacture them, and I seem to remember there about £180 a pair.

I would check with Keith at Eurovettes http://www.eurovettes.com/ before parting with your money, as he may know of something else.

I get mine MOT'd with the standard american red lights with no problem, you just need a 'friendly' garage. (My garage puts an on the advisory that the car was fitted with temporary amber lights, just to cover themselfs). Readit

I'd try the friendly garage route first, as I think they look much nicer with the red lights.

You probably know already but the front side lights need to be adjusted for the MOT also.

Re: Amber taillights

Thank you both. I've just bought a pair from Claremont.

For information, they are not for a C4 but for an Aston: The prototype Vantage had C4 rear lights, but being owned by Ford at the time GM wouldn't let them use them in the production car so Aston had to get their own manufactured. The Aston ones do not have the same reflectors around the outer rim so had to add two reflectors in the bumper. Anyway, I've just bought the prototype Aston and am putting it back to its original Motorshow condition.

NICE car, why not start a rebuild thread (does it need much restoring?) and post a link. I presume that's the twin superchanrged variant...?

BTW the EBC pads I bought for my C4 Corvette (1996, J55 big brake option) have "Corvette, Camaro, Firebird" on one side and "Aston Martin Virage" on the other...

What a great story. Thanks for posting this. Working for Aston and being a Corvette owner makes this a great bit of trivia for me!

Working for aston martin and owning a vet makes me jealous,

Thanks for the comments. Yes, it's 'The Vantage' so has two Eaton superchargers. Production car was rated at 550 BHP and 550 lb ft, but actually has a little more than that but it wasn't thought PC to state more.

This car, development prototype DP2055/2, was the first Vantage built - the one Clarkson wasn't allowed to drive:

Built in 1992 and was used in the brochure, the press photos, and the 92 Motor Show:

JC drove it finally in 2001: (here at 2:28) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWJuYAxMTwY

She's subtly different from the production cars, and so unique. Thing is, ever since the original showing of the TG episode (which I still have on VHS and watch routinely) this is MY dream car. I HAD to buy it.

She needs a 'sympathetic' restore. Has been outside for most of its recent life. Every panel needs repairing and so all needs repainting. Underneath is not pretty - the production cars were dipped and electrolytically treated. This wasn't. She's out and about for the summer (when ever that arrives) and then off to be pampered ready for the centennial celebrations next year. A blog would be good. Thanks for the suggestion:
