OK All you guys enquiring about hotel rates,. We have had our first enquiry quoting rates of £60 single and £70 double for our attendee,s and that includes breakfast.
The Hotel will allocate a block of rooms which you will be able to book yourself with our group booking number (once it is known.)
The hotel is three years and we have inspected both a single and double room, and are very well appointed.
Things have been going at a rate of knots and we are still to have our first committee meeting to nail down more detail, but rest assured that you will be informed as soon as we know, after our meeting.
MIKE.

I notice the date is way later than the usual one, is that on account of the fact it clashed with a couple of big yank events last year (I think the Mustang Nats and the MoPar nats were that weekend?) Or is it more down to the date being convenient to the new location owners? Scratchchin

I've read somewhere that it is to avoid the Olympic games.

Re: 2012 Corvette Nationals 15/15th September: Putteridge Bury Conference Centre

Date change was due to a few things, and yes the Olympics was one of them. It also worked for the venue as well, but being this late it meant that nearly all the road trips and big UK events would be done and dusted.
September is usually quite good weather wise, and a sunny weekend has been booked with the man upstairs.
Fingers crossed for a great weekend again. Clap Clap Clap Clap

It does mean we're having to change our holiday dates Toetap as we always go away for our anniversary, I've had to do meggar creeping to ensure I can attend the Nat's!!

The show always fell on the same weekend as some big show so at least people will be able to have a chance to attend alternative events now.

The only thing I know the new date clashes with is Goodwood revival.

Re: 2012 Corvette Nationals 15/15th September: Putteridge Bury Conference Centre

We were having issues surrounding Huntingdon revolving mainly around costs, but also feedback was that people were becoming bored with the venue.
In addition due to the Olympics there were no portaloos available. Glastonbury (which is normally the same weekend as the Nationals), will not be on in 2012 for precisely that reason.

Putteridge Bury came up at the last minute almost by chance, and the date was mainly determined by what they had available, bearing in mind it's a wedding venue, and these things boook up over a year in advance so we hasd to act quickly. The cost and organisational savings are considerable ( we don't need a marquee OR Portaloos, they have their own bar, we don't need to do a Health and Safety statement etc, etc, )
and it's a very lovely site and not just "a field in the middle of nowhere" as members have described Huntingdon.

The Hilton Hotel is also less expensive for similar facilites and is closer to the venue.
The only slight downside is that the HIlton doesn't have a suitable function room for the evening function, but Putteridge Bury does, although it's a bit smaller than the Marriott's. However, the evening function has become less well attended each year, and it can comfortably accommodate the kind of numbers we have had recently.
Camping will also be allowed on site, for those who want to stay over but don't want the hotel. If September turns out not be the best time, then this can be reviewed for future years
Hope this helps explainthings a little more
Dave
