AlloyGator Wheel Protectors

Just seen these advertised in the motoring section of a National newspaper.

http://www.alloygator.com/

Seem to look good, seem substantial and are being hailed. In their FAQ section they suggest car club secretaries contact them for a club discount.

Maybe worth a punt?

Re: AlloyGator Wheel Protectors

What an excellent idea - (I wonder if it affects wheel balance?) my contract hire company Passat has just 'gone back' at the end of lease. We were 'back-charged' £51 per wheel for re-furbishment. That figure is typical for a silver finished wheel. A polished or diamond cut wheel has to be mounted-up on a lathe I believe, 'turned' & re-lacqured - this is about £100 per wheel. Thanks for posting this - I have forwarded this to our transport manager for comment!

Mum's been researching this as possible protection for her wheels, apparently the reviews she has found are rather poor, suggesting that bodywork damage is possible if they remove themselves. Worth a bit more looking into before taking the plunge.

I wish she'd get a log on on here!

I guess that if you do a major 'kerbing' and one should snap and come loose - then, yes that would flail about and whip the wheel arches every rotation!

It looks a great idea, the protector appars to be held in place by tire pressure and the clips, if it was to come loose there couldnt be much hanging off with all those clips?

Not kerbing the car may be a better option Scratchchin

Well that post is nearly two years ago, maybe they've improved the product since then, and they did look after the kid.

I'm quite happy to let others try them out!

It's a great idea, but one that seems to be at odds with centrifugal force unfortunately. I think there is less risk in simply being careful about how you park.
