Bernies HVRA

Image
Anyone like circuit racing? - especially 'old school' circuit racing with V8 powered muscle cars? - Bernie Chodosh's new HVRA is on for 2012 following an inaugural event October last year at Snetterton.
Bernies HVRA is on at Snetterton this weekend 14th/15th - up to 30 V8 powered Camaros, Mustangs etc etc could be racing!
Help with tickets may be available - call Bernie on 07958 932921 or email berniechodosh @ hotmail.com

I spoke with Bernie Chodosh earlier today and if anyone with American cars, Hot Rods, Classics wishes to come along to Snetterton this weekend to support this new race series they would be most welcome

Next in calender is Monday/Tuesday 4th/5th May at Brands Hatch. Bernie hopes to announce something a little special for this event soon - so watch this space!

Re: Bernies HVRA

If anyone goes, I hope they take photos and video…Please?

Bernie could do with a bit more publicity, I couldn’t find much about the series via Google.

A long time ago, (must have been mid 90’s?) the Historic American Racers Association (HARA0 held its inaugural event at Brands. Jeff Barley was one of it's leading lights and was a Kent CCCUK Member at the time and so the Kent section went “in force”. And it turned out that most American car owners in the South East did as well, as we brought the A20 to a standstill, with two lanes of queuing US cars right back down Death Hill, with Jeff whizzing up and down in his old pick-up truck to keep people amused.

Brands was pretty packed, but I remember that amazingly, the pompous commentator thought all the spectators were there for another race on the programme! Back then, American cars on a race track was something new in the UK!

It’d be good to see a similar turnout at Brands in May …. Alas, a little too far for us.

Mick the Fish (aka yenko69) and John Mayes - DID go with a couple of mid-years - but weather was very cold - some of the the racers had previously blown engines, so racing Vettes were few and far between it seems - general trackside attendance was very light. Roll on Brands in May Yes

According to facebook...

John Dickson - First outing in Vette resulted in a win and third despite brake fade and a puncture in second race.

Funny although I like big wheels and arches and a muscular look, if I saw the 38 Vette on the road less the decals, it would be a Vette spoilt, but as a racer with the livery - I love it.
