coolant fan switch


Hi people , Mutley here, can some please tell me where i can find the coolant fan switch on my vette .. c4 88 5.7 auto

One is in the left side of the left hand cylinder head (backup switch), the main function of the fan is controlled by the ECM, reading temperature from the main coolant sensor. On a standard chip it does cut in very high, circa 220F from memory.

Hi Fran thanks for your reply. When you say left side im guessing you mean the drivers side ?... See i had the chip changed and the fan is now cutting in earlier which is good but i believe i should also change the fan switch too to a cooler fan switch or do i not bother because the ECM is in control

You will only have a fan switch if your car is fitted with the optional ( Option BP4 on your RDO label ) Aux fan in front of the radiator.
The switch operates that fan only, independent of the computer.

As noted main fan is from the computer.
If you wanted even lower temps without reprogramming the computer you could fit a new mech temp switch with a lower operating range wired up to control the main fan
