Don't concern yourself over the idle air bleed screw position - half a turn is OK - settings are all relative to other things on carb (like idle air bleed jets - if it has removable/replaceable ones)
One final check for you. Get a builders spirit level either on the carb mounting pad on the manifold, air filter top, or top of carb to see if carb/manifold is perfectly level front to rear - and compensate adjustments to float levels If not - otherwise issues could still occur........

Thought Id give an update on my fuel issues.

I was away for a long weekend in the middle of Sept with the C3 and although she behaved well I did have some issues where it just dies and was hard to start until I let her cool of for a bit.

Anyway the day we went away a fuel pressure gauge arrived that I didn't have time to fit. So on my return I went out and installed it. Unfortunately I didn't consider the fact that Ive got a mechanical fuel pump fitted so when I fired it up the pressure was jumping from 0 to 15psi really fast! So on the advise of others I fitted a fuel regulator and filter that Id taken off my truck when stripping it and right away the fuel pressure stabilised and I was able to adjust it to 4-5psi. Now Ive not had the opportunity to do more than 3 15 mile round trips since and the C3 is now in the garage for the winter, but in those 3 trips I had no issues and Id have to say the car drove far better than it had done previously. So hopefully the problem was just down to too high a fuel pressure causing the bowls to overflow. I'll need to adjust the fuel level in the bowls a bit and possibly increase the pressure slightly but I think, I hope that's this problem sorted.

I also changed the stat for a 160deg just in case it was a heat issue under the hood (and I'm still going to wrap the headers) which has kept the engine much cooler and the interior cooler (it was oppressive in there with the windows up - I'm in Scotland where there is no place for a convertible really!).

So now Ive just to decide what work I want to do over the winter. My list is already long and getting longer!

I saw the vid on Fb of the fuel pressure gauge going mad.. Glad its sorted now. Smile

Roof off in Scotland is no problem.. Mine is off quite a lot even in the winter, ..just max the heater out and zip up your hoodie! Its a good feeling on those crisp winter days..

Hope to make it to the Harvester or some other event one of these days. Hopefully I'll have an mot on Friday too!. Scratchchin

Fuel pressure gauge will 'pulse' and show a fluctuating pressure - due to having a diaphragm pump driven by a cam lobe.

I was going to suggest that the floats weren't stopping the fuel flow fully. I had this once. I could drive it, but it was flooding so when I stopped I could barely keep it running. I blew out the fuel inlets with an air line and it solved it. I don't think they were seating properly, so let fuel past them. Maybe a lump of crud.

Those supposedly reusable blue Holley gaskets can break-up creating tiny little pieces creating the issues you've highlighted. Probably more of an issue where a car hasn't been used for a while and the carb has dried out.
