C5 clutch fluid - which one?

C5 clutch fluid - which one?


Hi, I need to top up my clutch master cylinder, not a job I have personally done before and wondering what to use. I see Halfords have Comma Brake and Clutch fluid DOT 4 Synthetic. Am I OK to go with this or should I be looking for something a bit more specialist?

I think it is only really DOT-3 brake fluid in as standard so no problem topping it up or replacing with DOT-4.

I use Brembo, a bit more expensive but our cars deserve it.

Indeed they do Graham; where does one get Brembo from? I will probably top up with Comma today but maybe I will flush out the system completely with Brembo when it gets a bit warmer!

I use DOT-5.1 from Halfords in my brake system. If I had a clutch I would probably use it in that too. Saves buying two different bottles don't it?

Good call.

I think it will be ok for clutch fluid, but dirty/cloudy brake fluid will be an MOT failure after May so maybe consider changing both.

Got mine from an ebay seller when I refreshed the system using the 'ranger method'. Expected to do the same this winter but the fluid has stayed clean, compared to the black ink I had before I did it previously. I'm guessing it had never been done before.

The only fluid that hasnít boiled in my Z06 is MOTUL 600, seems to be about the best Iíve used, and Iíve gone through plenty!!
