C5 clutch fluid - which one?

Hi, I need to top up my clutch master cylinder, not a job I have personally done before and wondering what to use. I see Halfords have Comma Brake and Clutch fluid DOT 4 Synthetic. Am I OK to go with this or should I be looking for something a bit more specialist?

Re: C5 clutch fluid - which one?

I think it is only really DOT-3 brake fluid in as standard so no problem topping it up or replacing with DOT-4.

I use Brembo, a bit more expensive but our cars deserve it.

Indeed they do Graham; where does one get Brembo from? I will probably top up with Comma today but maybe I will flush out the system completely with Brembo when it gets a bit warmer!

I use DOT-5.1 from Halfords in my brake system. If I had a clutch I would probably use it in that too. Saves buying two different bottles don't it?

Good call.

I think it will be ok for clutch fluid, but dirty/cloudy brake fluid will be an MOT failure after May so maybe consider changing both.

Got mine from an ebay seller when I refreshed the system using the 'ranger method'. Expected to do the same this winter but the fluid has stayed clean, compared to the black ink I had before I did it previously. I'm guessing it had never been done before.

ATE Typ 200 (in a C6 but it also works in a C5)

--------------------
Callaway Honker
Ported throttle body
Ported intake
Crane Cams 1.8 ratio rockers
Kooks Jet Hot coated headers
Pfadt Johnny O'Connel shocks
Hotchkis sway bars
Diablosport Trinity with custom tune
Brian Tooley Racing valve spring kit

When launching and stopping this beast, passengers may experience temporary black-out due to "G" forces
caused by acceleration and deceleration speeds faster than what they are normally accustomed to.
