daily driver

hi all, while I haven't got my car on the road yet
(still waiting for paperwork and registration to be completed etc)
I'm planning on using it as my daily drive for the next few months or until the salt snow and ice hit us again,
just wondering does anyone else use their c5 as a daily and is there anything I should be aware of ?
I will probably be putting 150 - 200 miles a week on it excluding runs day trips etc.
secondly is it worth treating the underside with dinitrol / something similar or am I ok with just giving it a steam clean underside every few weeks with the galvanised chassis.
haven't had a c5 or any corvette before but have had other old yanks that seemed to dissolve before your eyes no matter what I did Banghead
thanks for your time and replies in advance.

Re: daily driver

During the last 5 years before retirement, drove my '97 110 miles round trip from Baltimore to Andrews AFB daily. However, not in the snow.

Never worried about corrosion or rust on the undercarriage, drove it in heavy rains so much, never gave it a thought. Very Happy

Had a 2001 coupe years ago, daily driver for me in sun, sleet hail or snow
Never let me down and with good tyres (Toyos) was good on the snow as well, better than some 4 x 4s.

Re: daily driver

Hi, I run a 2003 vert all year just as BlackZed, in all weathers. As has already been mentioned they are surprisingly good in the snow. I still run mine on Goodyear Eagle F1 run-flats for what it's worth.
The only real issue you will find is remembering to make that turn to go into work at the end of the morning commute Laughing

Re: daily driver

thanks for the replies,
have any of you bothered to underseal your c5 or is the galvanising and factory underseal sufficient ? I'm more concerned with all the dirt packing up into hard to reach areas and rotting it out
also English peeps how do you find the c5 on our roads with all the speed bumps and potholes etc
may sound daft but ive never had anything that rides this low before (apart from a mk1 mexico when I was 20 and I didn't give a s**t then)

Re: daily driver

C5 is absolutely fine as an all year round car in UK. In winter, road grit/salt can kick up under the bonnet and lodge on top of the steel chassis rails. I used to vacuum it away with the hoover from time to time. Had the car for 13 years and never encountered any significant corrosion anywhere. Bear in mind they are engineered for Northern USA and Canada.

It's a low car and some caution is recommended for speed bumps and car park ramps etc. Really not a problem.
