Nationals 2009 Summer Nationals 27th - 28th June
The date for the 2009 Summer Nationals is now set 27th - 28th June 2009 at Huntingdon racecorse.
Neil and I were elected to organise the Nationals for a second year at the recent AGM so before we start on next years Nationals we are looking for feedback from this years Nationals good or bad, also what you would like to see at next years Nationals.
We know there were issues with the catering this year which we are already addressing so we do not have the same problem again.
So what do we want to know
What did you think of the events we had did you like them
What would you like to see next year
Where do you think we could improve
What did you think of the field layout etc
Is there anything you can think off that you would like to see
This is your chance to let us know where you want the nationals to go so let us hear your thoughts and we will do our best to organise an event you would like to see (Budget permitting so don't worry Mr Treasurer )
So over to you guys lets have your feedback
Denis

Hi.
This is my reply to your question:
So what do we want to know
What did you think of the events we had did you like them - The events were good!
What would you like to see next year - Better catering facilities, more stalls
Where do you think we could improve - same as above!
What did you think of the field layout etc - very good!

Firstly make sure the rolling road/dyno turns up this year
Add to that a decent selection of top notch grub, not the usual dry burger in a dry bun commonly found at outside events and some more auto jumble stalls to pick through would be nice.
The Lancaster fly past was awsome as were the static aero engines, so it would great to see those again.
Oh, and don't forget to book the sunshine

The rolling road turned up this year, but went away again almost as quickly. They had mis-informed us as to what kind of an area they needed to operate from. They told us that they could run on grass, but in actual fact this wasn't the case. It had to be a hard standing, and as the only hard standing on the site is over by the offices, way away from anything, they decided that it wasn't for them and turned tail and disappeared into the sunset.
It took over a year to find these guys, who have a MOBILE rolling road setup. The static ones are two a penny.
So if anyone out there knows of a MOBILE setup that can operate on GRASS then please let me know so that we can try again.
Cheers

What did you think of the events we had did you like them - very good, and original too
What would you like to see next year - Bingo - only kidding!!! Defo more food stalls, although I am aware of what the problem was, not of the committees doing, pity u couldn't enforce some sort of fine for those failing to turn up on the day!!
Where do you think we could improve - not the organizing, members, lets have more on Saturday
What did you think of the field layout etc - spot on!!
Is there anything you can think off that you would like to see - mmmm hog roast like that idea
Overall I thought this the best yet, my 10th now, good job guys
Just reveived (that word was meant to be received-edited now to fix ) the DVD, good VFM I thought, the Scott Groves bit, to me, was the best! One disapointment, what happened the V8 salute

Re: Nationals 2009 Summer Nationals 27th - 28th June
This year was only my second Vette Nationals and the first where I’ve actually been an owner of a Vette & been a fully paid up member. I love being part of the scene & thought the event was great & extremely well organised. However, it was all very ‘private’ & almost exclusive to Vette owners.
A couple of ‘thought provoking’ ideas……………..
I would say that anybody who’s got an interest in cars, from kids right through to mature adults have a soft spot for the Corvette so why don’t we take advantage of that fact and hold the Nationals at a ‘well known’ venue where the public can take in the venue but also enjoy the pleasure of seeing 100’s of corvettes all in one place, a unique experience.
Examples of a venue could be: Motor Museum e.g. Beaulieu, Brooklands, Gaydon. Stately Home e.g. Woburn Abbey, Longleat. Seaside resort e.g. Brighton prom, Blackpool. Motor Circuit e.g. Silverstone, Goodwood, Rockingham. Theme Park e.g. Alton Towers, Legoland, Drayton Manor
All of these venues have vast car parking, facilities & members of the public.
Surely the owners of these venues would see this as an attraction to pull in more ‘punters’, i.e. a ‘win-win’ situation for all parties & therefore allocate an area at preferential rates.
The other thing which these venues could possibly accommodate is a ‘mass cruise’ during the weekend. 100+ vettes cruisin’ around, wouldn’t that just blow your mind !!
Apologies if these thoughts have already been suggested, debated & ‘filed’ but I thought it worth giving them a punt !!
Would appreciate your thoughts
Al
