Re: Nationals 2009 Summer Nationals 27th - 28th June

I would definately be there weekday or weekend.
But would prefer weekends if you have to come from a distance 300 miles each way in a day is hard work 300 miles friday and 300 miles on the sunday is still a fun relaxing weekend and perhaps sharing it with other "muscle car clubs" would be fun and nothing wrong with some healthy competition.
however its sensible to stick with a proper drag strip such as Santapod or SCR
all the ex airfield type tracks are concrete and have no grip you need a proper glue covered tarmac track otherwise with some of the more powerful cars its easy to get into a spin.
Earlier this year i tried Dakota raceway in devon the wheels were still spinning through the timing gates (only an 1/8 mile track) and was sideways the whole way.

Drag racing Clap
Iagree concrete strips are pretty pointless, perhaps on a friday or something?

I havent been to the cccuk summer show for about 4 years, mainly because it clashes with the Bromley show but partly because it just wasn't very exciting, i know lots of people put a lot of effort into it but if you are going to have a one marque show there needs to be lots of other things going on.

For me (and lots of other people) corvettes are about the performance as much as the looks, and looking at a line of near identical vettes doesn't keep me interested for long enough.

i've heard its better now, but a vette show IMHO needs a slalom/drag race /0-60/0-100/rolling road etc, i'm not keen on the current venue (no burnouts!) where did it all get so serious?

How about Rockingham or somewhere similar?
I know this is easy for me to say as i sit in my chair and I feel bad writing this but it is constructive criticism, convince me to come this year - i'm all ears!

I've just read this whole thread, not realising that the Summer Show moved sites, i haven't been for a while, ignore my previous post, i'n fact ignore it anyway because it doesn't come across very well, anyway i'll be there this year!
