Reminds me of when I bought some C4 parts back from the US in a suitcase including two rear wheel hubs. Also had a mercury switch for the centre console. On the X-Ray you could see the outline of the switch with a curly wire coming from it. I was shocked to see such an array of suspicious items silhouetted in my suitcase, but the officials didn't bat an eyelid.................

What's the position insurance-wise if you've by-passed the Steering column lock?

They're probably quite glad you haven't driven off with the steering lock still engaged. Trust me, it's exciting!!

Have just sent Eurovettes an e-mail in seek of one of these CLB kits.

Any ideas where is best to get them these days? I note last reply was 2010...

Don't want to suffer column lock on new car!

I never had any trouble with my C5 in the 3 1/2 years I owned it so it's probably not as worrying as you think, but best get it done if you're concerned. Thumbs up

Re: C5 column lock bypass

Having fitted a CLB and had new insurance and a new MOT since then, I can tell you that for this age car when doing MOT it's not an issue and for insurance they just insist that there is a means of disabling the vehicle, so cat 1 immobiliser and alarm system.

A Tracker also helps bring cost down.

Essentially, fitting one to a car won't cause any problems.

There was a more recent discussion here:

Has your car had any Steering Lock recalls done?

Hi Shifty
If Keith doesn't have one, I have a new one unused with full instructions including the wiring to fool the system to allow the fit.PM me if interested.
