1974 Corvette cuts out

Hello,

I have a 1974 Corvette Convertible we have imported and are getting ready for UK use.

it has the L82 engine with the standard Rochester carb. It starts, idles and runs fine but after about 5 miles it seems to go 'fluffy' then cuts out. After a couple of minutes it will start again but repeat the cut-out.

So can't travel very far ! we have rebuilt the carb (it did it before this), new coil etc etc. My mechanic thinks it is a fuel venting issue, with lack of air getting into the system (the fuel cap is the sealed non-vented type).

Anyone experienced similar issues ?

Thanks

First Check the inline Fuel Filter - Blow it out backwards onto a piece of plain white paper - you may see rust or particle debris that is blocking the one way micro gauze and hence bouts of Fuel Starvation - I would think the Fuel Cap should be vented if there is no other Vent to the system

the '74 is up at CCM Vettes in North Kent, am waiting to hear - initial analysis was the engine was poorly set up but still doesn't explain cutting out.
I will advise when updated...
