Hi hello all I'm new to your club I need some advice on a C3 that's OK ebay I'm looking to do a swap for my Harley 1986 evo the guy is happy to swap he's got it listed at 6500 needs engine rebuild and restoration work is also needed can anyone advise me on the value and what to look for I have had other pictures sent via watts app that show plenty of work to do but the frame looks solid it's not much to do with the value I like to work on cars more than driving to be honest hope you can help thanks stevev

It's a cheap C3, but value is a pretty subjective thing. Mine cost £7500, but I've spent more than that on it to get it how I want it and it still needs a gearbox refurb. I wanted a car to work on and that's what I got but it did blow my initial budget quite badly so I'd suggest you plan for a fair degree of additional expense.

The one thing that will kill a Corvette is a rusted out Chassis and/or Birdcage (the cockpit framework inc the windscreen surround).
The worst place for Chassis rot is just ahead of the rear wheels and the worst place for the Birdcage is the front part all the way from the top of the windscreen down to the chassis. You need to remove the interior kick panels to check where the Birdcage and Chassis meet.
Everything else is fixable with time, effort, skill and money.

The Chassis is very Scaly around the Trailing Arm - all going to be a lot of work time and money, IMO too expensive by far, better to spend a little more and get something better to start with.

There are some vehicles that everytime you look at them you see more and more that needs doing. This is one of those vehicles. doors cards, sterring wheel, dash vent, no doubt others will see more. Trailing arms and rear chassis will need further investigation. Total paint job too. An '82 isn't exactly high on the collectibility stakes - with a knackered engine too.........it should be valued as a 'breaker' - IMHO so perhaps £4.5/£5K top wack if engine was servicable - less with U/S engine. Why not wait for the right car to come along.

Thats the trouble with plastic body cars, they can look better than they are. Im not sure how genuinely 'Florida' this one is, be interesting to know how long its been in the dark, dank, dreary UK.
As the owner of a Yellow Vette and a previous long time owner of a 588cc Norton Rotary i wouldnt mind that number plate but unfortunately being an X i cant put it on a W reg car. You could sell it to a Norton owner, the earliest police bikes were X reg if memory serves me right (mine was A reg).

Nice engine but I fear you will need rather more than just that to get this particular car back in good shape. New parts for these cars aren't cheap and it looks like you may be needing plenty of them. Maybe better to decide on your budget and try to find a partly restored car. But it's you money and your choice at the end of the day......
