Big end issue

Just looking back on some images and video's from 4 or 5 years back and came across these two video's with no. 1 big end on its way out - worth listening on headphones just for the 'lopey' idle sound - how does that compare with L88 idle Norm, 67 Heaven?

Yours sounds excellent, Roscobbc. I'm sure it gets lots of attention in the UK.
I'd say the duration and overlap (perhaps the lift too) are a bit more extreme on the L88 cam. Here are the '67 and '68 specs:
int. opens BTDC/62
int. closes ABDC/115
intake dur./354/357
lobe center/117
intake lift/.540
exh. opens BBDC/108
exh. closes ATDC/72
exh. lobe center/360
exh. lift/.560
dist. centers/136
valve overlap/133/134

Strangely enough, I posted a video of two L88s just a few hours ago.
Post #21 in this thread - RPO L88 - the torch was passed from the 1963 Z06 and the 1963 Grand Sport to these

P.S. The ZL1 cam which I ran for a number of years is more extreme than the above specs.

Yes cam is relatively mild hydraulic flat tappet (if I remember correctly) at 230/242 @ .050" - lift is .560". Lobe ramps are quite 'aggressive' - with oval port heads it pulls from 1200 rpm - power band is from 1800 rpm through to 6200 with peak torque at 3850 rpm. Really needs an overdrive though.....

Ross, your's sound's great. It seems both, set up for racing, have a commanding presence and lots of lope, which is desirable and a must for that style car and engine. Always head turners and screamers going down the road.(y)
