Boring insurance question

There used to be a second hand Furniture shop in Birmingham (in the 70s) that would sell you Motor Insurance for a fixed sum, regardless of whether it was a Mini or an E Type and if you were on "L" Plates or not - it was probably about £5 or £10

Not that I had ever used them, but somehow I think there could have been difficulties should a Claim have arisen

James we have a few Sponsors for whom Insurance is their game, so I am sure that at least one of them shall turn up soon, but perhaps not be able to match the above figures - Good Luck!

James - you may get a nice surprise (or not) - some guys in your age bracket have managed to get insured on late model Vettes at good prices - classic insurance which we all use will perhaps have age limitations.....?

Someone younger than me on here? How exciting, what year c3 are you getting? I'm not looking forward to the insurance part when I get on the road.

Having it insurered in your dad`s name and you as a named driver when you are going to be the main driver is known as `fronting ` , a very common ploy with young drivers facing high premiums . It is illegal . Also , you will never acrue your own No Claims discount for the future as you are not the policy holder (n)

Classic car. limited mileage, policy is probably going to be the cheapest option other than fronting.:) Downside is that Classic policies will not accrue NCD.

Try some of the American car specialist insurers and see what they can offer, with limited mileage.

James. the Club has several insurers who specifically give a discount to Club Members. You would probably save the cost of your joining fee with the discount.

As the others have said - no "fronting", its just not worth it. Classic car insurance is ideal, BUT I don't know if you need a main car to go with your classic car as a second car. Classic car insurance on limited mileage policies shouldn't cost much though. I have mine setup to include the "commuting to work" option, just so I can exercise the C3 every now and then. But my main car is a diesel Focus.

If someone is fronting your Policy and have separate Policies of their own, and you have a loss and consequential claim, that claim on your vehicle will impact on all the other vehicle Policies that the Fronter is holding.
