Corvette prices from 1989

Going through some of my old magazines and found one of my old Corvette trader magazines from February 1989
Now, back in the 80’s and 90’s the Corvette trader was THE magazine for buying or selling your corvette. Used by dealers and private alike, it covered all of the USA.
Have taken a few page shots to show you what they cost some 33 years ago. Exchange rates were £1 to $1:80’s depending on month.

I’ve probably got a couple of corvette traders from 2001. I used to subscribe and kept them all. Had a bit of a clear out some time ago as they were taking up too much room. Kept a few from each year so I could always see what was selling for what, or the ones we bought from.

From our point of view to import cars from the USA at that period in time we also had the following
10% car import tax ( what HMRC valuation of the car in the UK would be. Non negotiable)
10 % import duty
Both the above then plus
VAT at 15% from memory.
If you paid for the shipping in the US no VAT applied.
They altered that later on in the 90’s so you did indeed pay VAT as they included that in the UK “landed “ price.

Lots of memories looking through that mag, many dealers from the past, now long gone
John Danos enterprises
Lussiers corvettes
Atlantic corvettes and Corvette concepts in Miami/Ft Lauderdale I knew them well.
Good ole Ted Vernon.
The notorious Visone corvettes
My local Clearwater/tampa dealers all still in business I might add
PJ, Toy Store, corvettes and collectibles.
