Fuselink wire

Hi I’m after a bit of help with my c3 please
I replaced my wiper motor and saw a perished wire beside it and replaced it with a similar size wire from what I could see, I didn’t know what it was but it turns out it’s a fuselink wire
So my question is, will the wire I replaced it with be ok but it’s just normal wire but similar size, or if I cut the wire and put in an in line fuse would that be ok.
I know a fuse isn’t the same as a fuselink but I’m never out in the rain and so very rarely use the wipers.
What do you think I should do?
All help appreciated

A fusible link is typically 4 AWG sizes smaller than the wire it is protecting it is also encased in high temperature fire resistant insulator, so no just replacing it with a normal small wire is not a good idea.
I had a similar issue with my C4, got the correct item from Rock Auto for about £9.00 delivered.
