The German tuning company that built this 1959 Chevrolet Corvette calls it an “American old timer.” Yet even though the body is several decades old, the components beneath the metal are all brand new. At the request of a customer, Pogea Racing GmbH outfitted this classic roadster with running gear from a present-day Corvette.

Chevrolet today unveiled the 2013 Corvette 427 Convertible Collector Edition – the fastest, most capable convertible in Corvette’s history – as well as a 60th Anniversary Package that will be available on all 2013 Corvette models.

Six years ago, the oldest production Corvette in existence, Corvette #003, sold for $1,080,000 at Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale sale. RM Auctions is not expecting a repeat of that sale when the third-oldest Corvette, Corvette #005, crosses the block next month at its Arizona auction, but is still predicting a sale price of about half a million dollars.
