Bingo Racing will enter the Japan Cup leg of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Asia powered by AWS in 2024 with its restored Callaway Corvette C7 GT3-R.
Team owner Shinji Takei and 2002 JGTC champion Akira Iida scored an unlikely victory in the first race of the Japan Cup season earlier this year at Fuji, marking the C7 GT3-R’s first win in SRO competition and a first for any model of Corvette since 2010.
However, the car was involved in a major accident in the second race of the same weekend, when Iida made contact with the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo of Hiroshi Hamaguchi approaching Turn 1.
The damage was enough to force the Bingo Corvette on to the sidelines for the remainder of the season.
However, it has now been confirmed that the Callaway-built car will be back in action for the newly-separated four-round Japan Cup in 2024, beginning with the standalone weekend at Sportsland Sugo in June.
Drivers have yet to be announced, although it is “most likely” to be a Pro-Am pairing, according to Fanatec GT Asia’s press release.
Bingo becomes the third team to firm up plans to enter the Japan Cup, following Comet Racing and D’station Racing.
