Hmmmmm, ok, I thought I needed to get an MOT before I can get a registration?

An MOT is not required for an Historic vehicle (over 40yrs). It has to be roadworthy to hit the public roads and to satisfy your insurance company but you are not obligated to take it for an annual test although for peace of mind many will still take their vehicle for a inspection/test.

So going back to registration when you send in your paperwork an MOT certificate will not be required.

The bit that I get confused with is all the extra information required in the V55 that would come from the Certificate of conformity. I thought the MOT would cover most of those points?

Again not needed, CoC is only for newer cars, you’ll only need the basic information .. Vin no, age, engine size, no of seats etc. I’ve got a link somewhere or a copy of one I’ve completed which will make more sense.

With the possible exception of the risk of broken brake calliper bleed screws , your "to do" list doesn't too bad, for a first time!

I'm sure you know, but don;t be like the American car "newbie" in Classic and Sports Car magazine - pump out the trans fluid with a think tube pushed down the dip-stick tube before you undo the bolts of the trans sump! That way you won't get 5 litre os trans fluid up your arm and neck and all over the garage floor!:D Oh and make sure you buy a Delco filter and gasket set - it comes with a far superior gasket.....

You've got a lot done so far, most of the tricky things by the sound of it - keep smiling! (y)

I Don’t have the original letter of registration so a letter would be appreciated. I’ll send them right now, I just happen to be working on her............

Coming along. Looks like you might need a headlight actuator seal kit, to get the units to go up fully etc. Got mine from Corvette Kingdom and after watching a video online, by some helpful young American DIY mechanic, managed to do mine with great results.

Ah yes, about that. So I have had both of the headlight mechanisms out and refurbed using the ‘large’ kit from Corvette Kingdom. However, I’m not 100% certain I have the spring arrangement correct. I have a couple of restoration books but none of them show a clear enough picture of how they are supposed to go. And I have no faith in how they were arraigned from how they were when I started, mainly because each one was different.

Any chance some else is in the process of pulling apart your headlights and can take a picture of how it’s supposed to look?

Gutted, as I took pictures of mine before I took them apart, to ensure correct replacement and I've stupidly deleted them from my phone! I'll hopefully have time and take some this morning and post them on here for you.

Thanks Jimbo, I really appreciate it.

It may not get said enough, but the the people of this community really are the best. It’s not just on this forum, but anyone I meet who has a classic all have the same “let me know if I can help” attitude.

Hopefully these quickly taken photos assist, but if not, I can take some more in due course. They hopefully show you both units in the closed and open positions.

I love it! My wife does say I have taken on another woman (said in an outrageous french accent)!

I know it may be sac religious to give an American car a French name but it fits so well!!

Ah, so completely different to either configuration I started with. Cheers Jimbo!

Not a problem, just make sure yours are actually vacuum operated and not been converted whilst engine was swapped !😀
Just been out in mine to fill up the magically evaporating petrol and lights going up and down a treat with the as photographed current set up and new actuator seals, so I can vouch for what you see in my pics. Now there's a kiss of death, if ever there was one !
