Ever get the opportunity to listen to Hendrix back 'in the day'? - no, few of us did..........listen to the Randy Hansen Band and compare with Hansen (live) for an astonishing play list so, so close to Jimi's playing its unreal.........

Like so many I never saw the great man live , but also look up Kenny Wayne Shepherd on Youtube playing Voodoo Child . I have several of his albums and he often includes a track as homage to Jimi Hendrix . KWS is a fantastic blues / rock guitarist IMO .

Have never heard of KWS - and yes, he is good, very good.
The 'thing' that seperated Randy Hansen from other guitarists playing Henrix music is that he 'only' plays Henrix's music or his own in the Henrix style - and has done since the 70's as a Henrix tribute act. I'm not a guitarist but listening to him being interviewed on the fact that he plays a left-handed guitar in right-handed mode. Exacty the opposite of Henrix who (I believe) played a right-handed guitar in left-handed mode. The reason? Randy explains that when trying to master Henrix's playing style in a mirror.... the image he sees is exactly the same as Henrix playing........clever or co-incidental?

Ross , you are correct that Hendrix played a right hand guitar in left hand mode so effectively upside down . Great trick of Randy Hansen learning Hendix`s style in a mirror image . Another great guitarist and all round rock character is Del Bromham of the band Stray that started out in 1966 and went all the through the prog 70`s era and is still treading the boards to this day . I have seen him live several times and he often throws in a Hendrix rendition that is bang on , including playing behind his head and with his teeth too a la Hendrix . I am going next month to Stray`s gig at the fabled Stables at Wavendon that was originally set up by Cleo Lane & Johny Dankworth as a jaz venue back in 1969 . Will be great to finally be a `live `again .:D

I've been listening to kenny loggins recently. Such good 80s tune! Don't like his slow songs though.
He goes way back before the commercialised 80`s stuff like Footloose . Back in the late 60`s and early 70`s when country rock was the new big thing he was in the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and then with Loggins & Messina . Bob Harris who hosted the `Old Grey Whistle Test ` on TV was into them in a big way . The Old Grey Whistle Test was essential late night viewing for those of us of that long haired hippy era as it only featured underground and prog rock bands . No hit music pulp allowed and usually enjoyed at somebodies `Crash Pad` with a few beers and joint or too . ✌️

OMG ! so naff and old hat ! I went to a brilliant gig last night at the famed Stables venue in Wavenden , Bucks to see Del Bromham and his band Stray playing their own brand of prog rock and heavy rock . They have been going since 1966 and guitarists Del Bromham and Peter Dyer are both septegenarians and can still rip it up and show the younger generation a trick or too . I first saw them live in 1970 and many times since . They played many of their classics as well as later stuff , 15 / 20 minute live versions of Percy the Pimp and Jericho were mind blowing ! Rock n Roll . 🤟
