Homegrown paintwork

That looks so satisfying, but very time consuming.
I need to move so I can have a garage for my C4.
All of the work was done outside, painting in two gazebo’s. The C3 is still outside but under a carport. The C1 will be prepped and painted under the carport, it’s too dusty to be in the garage with other cars.

A specific question, my C4 has previously had a "blow over" in cellulose that has faded, it will polish up really nice but fades again within a week or so, pictures attached.
Is there any reason I couldn't just sand down the current paint and then spray as per your method using sealer, colour and clear ?

That sounds like a typical 1970’s paint job! Personally I would strip the paint off as I have done. If you want to try a ‘cut corners ‘paint job I would lightly wet and dry the roof panel, panel wipe, colour then clear coat as a simple test panel but I didn’t say that.

Thanks for the advice, I wrapped the roof last year as a test panel, but your post got me thinking that it's cheaper to paint the car that wrap it.

Everything was bought from EBay!
I have been looking for paint on eBay and it's minefield with so many suppliers.
I would like it the original colour, could you point me to a seller who you have used for the base colour please?
I assume you can't paint outside when the weather cools down ?

Here is a vendor that makes GM as to the car's paint code, I have used them for several years

They sell from small touch up bottles, paint pens, spray can, quarts, etc
Also sells GM base and clear coats for that car
Shows you all the colors in paint chips for that model year for Corvettes and other year/models

Sorry for delay in answering. I used these guys in screen shot below. They will mix to your cars paint code. Upol primer and clearcoat IMG_0528.png you can buy from anyone eBay etc. I am not comfortable painting in less than 70 degrees. Good luck

Thank you, does this paint also need a hardener ?
Just realised it's just the clear that needs a hardener.
