Mr Roscobbc, was your wife’s Ghia dark metallic brown with a tan half top? A fantastic colour combination for the mid/late 70’s. The 70’s as a whole were very brown. The Mustang 11 had everything going for it - so 302 engine (albeit 136 hp) small size (so UK 'friendly'.....ish) - a surprisingly comfortable ride noy far behind a intermediate or full size car. However with mere 13" wheels and tyres it didn't go around corners. Being based on a Pinto body and suspension perhaps if named something other than Mustang it might have been remembered better.........it sold well in the USA - my missus loved her rhd UK spec' 302 Ghia......
No. It was scrapped. Bought it cheap and deliberately ran it on a miniscule budget. Missus had a virus of some kind for a couple of years that weakened her muscles. She still needed a car to run kids to/from school if I was away working. Few cheaper used Brit cars in the mid 80's had the ultra light power steering and auto transmission she needed. Arguable the very best rack and pinion front clip of any car.....ever..... proof being that rodders are still using them today. We sold to a young lad who then wrapped it around a lampost a few weeks later. I bought the wrecked car back and then sold it to someone building a Cobra replica for the engine in the late 80's. They really drove well and a great alternative to a Cortina Ghia of the day (except for fuel economy)Just checked your reg, no record of it at the DVLA. I wonder if it’s still about on a different reg number.?
