Kingpins, a blast from the past.

Anyone have/ about to install new kingpins? I changed out the front brake backing plates to discover 1. C1’s have kingpins, I thought it was only my old Bentley had them, and 2. One side is virtually seized to the point that I needed a tyre lever to swivel the knuckle! So about to install new kingpins with uprights remaining in car(hopefully). Will update…..

My first wheeled vehicle (after bikes & scoots) was a Berkeley T60. That had kingpin front suspension.......it needed to be kept well lubed to prevent excess wear......probably why so many upmarket cars like Rolls Royces etc had centralised chassis lubrication.........

Ok, I have just completed the siezed side but had to remove spindle assembly from the car. The Kingpin would not knock out even after soaking overnight. 6 ton press made it a breeze. All back together and on the car with the other side for tomorrow.
Same as on a c2/3, dont look at the steering box until all ball joints replaced. This 59 now has light steering with no olay even after one kingpin replacement.
Only quick pics due to lack of interest!IMG_0897.jpegIMG_0898.jpeg
