Around about 14.00 GMT, GM released an official video on YouTube which was shot last autumn at a public drag strip in Michigan.
The soon-to-be available ZR1X has the 5.5 litre twin-turbo V8 of the ZR1 boasting at least 1064hp plus the E Ray's electric front axle for an official total of 1,250hp. As we know, the ICE component is probably considerably stronger than this in reality. As far as tyres are concerned, it looked to me as if they were using road tyres - no drag slicks here.
Cutting to the chase - in a feat that was repeated many times, the X dipped into the 8's for the 1/4...
In fact, the best time was 8.675 secs at 159.57mph!!!
That's a production Corvette and it hit 160mph from a standstill in less than 9 secs.
In first and second gears, the acceleration was 1.5g which is stunning and the 0 - 60?
1.68 seconds!
Overall, this must make it one of the very fastest accelerating production cars in the world.
Congrats to the whole Corvette team!
