That solves one of my barriers to C8 ownership

A company has developed a manual gearbox solution for the C8:

So that has removed one of my barriers to C8 ownership. The other barrier just involves me finding a mere ton of money to buy a C8, and then another ton of money to get it converted. Minor issue really......

Yes - all very 'atmospheric' in terms of price and the amount of work and additional parts required to actually accelerate slower!
quote
"The idea behind this conversion kit is to provide customers with everything they need to make their C8 Corvette a manual under a single part number. This comes at a price, however, as the already sold-out package is priced at $105,930 in the United States, on top of whatever you will need to pay for a Corvette to perform the transmission swap on."

Oh agreed its completely pointless really - paying a lot more to in effect drive slower. But hey, I'm old school like that - that and around here you can't go fast, so its nice to have a bit more driver engagement to make driving fun. I've never really got on with automatics.

All a moot point though - I could afford the $100, but not the the "K" after it for the package, let alone the whatever it is for a C8.

Still, I found it interesting there are people out there like me that would like a manual C8.

I'm on the fence with this Captain and no way would I plunk down $100k to have the conversion done..

My classic Corvettes are all manual and that was by choice although the '71 LT-1 was only offered in manual anyway.

The 8 speed 'slush' box in my C8 is on a whole new level and I wouldn't have it any other way and in any case, you're too busy hanging on for dear life that to be troubled by having to change gears 😇

Then again, I've never been one for modifying my cars either. I lost sleep over changing the C8 front license plate mount to a US size 😁

Horses for courses I guess - I've had a number of cars over the years with auto type transmissions and they have their places......for daily driving and business/work/city applications. 'Robotised', self changing manual transmissions have become very long way in the last few years and driven by the need for economy and clean exhausts they can be extremely good.......but (for me anyway) can not replace a good torque converter auto transmission. One of the finest IMHO was the 8 speed ZF RWD unit paired with the relatively low revving short torque band BMW diesels, always in the right gear at the right time. As Mr Cricket intimates........there is still nothing like a slick shifting, close ratio 4 speed transmission behind a torquey V8 engine. Drive hard or short shift and utilise the torque band.........
