Hi gents......I'm resurfacing a tad and trying to get my Vette roadworthy.....have a decent leak from the rear of the gearbox and need to find out if it is a Muncie, to obtain correct parts?
Is there any way [ without counting splines etc] of telling from appearance / vin number etc please?

Shift side cover is easy way to tell. It’s on the drivers side. If it is a Muncie then there’s a cast number in the passenger side which along with the stamped number will tell you what was originally inside as well as if it’s original to the car.

Won’t say Muncie. Side cover will have two shifters and 7 bolts round the edge if it’s a Muncie.
