DOT 4 has higher wet and dry boiling points than DOT3 ( brake fluid is hydroscopic ie absorbs water ) DOT 4 is better suited to high speed / hard braking such as track days etc but needs changing more regularly than DOT3 as it is more hydoscopic . At least that is what I have read up on before anyone shoots me down in flames . My advice would be to use what is recommended for the car by GM and change it at correct service intervals accordingly .
