Anyone else restoring a C1?

2025 has started off for me with the purchase of a C1 project. I’ve been working hard on the car and already had two fruitful trips to swap meets in Daytona and Brooksville. At North Weald a few parts were found but many more needed. My question is, is anyone else in the club restoring a C1?9)

This indeed. I've started writing about some of the simple things I've done to my Corvette, because everyone loves technical stuff and photos of Corvette innards with oil and muck everywhere.

And it appears the answer to my question is no! Seems like I’m UK’s Lone wolf C1 restorer. Another project being delivered tomorrow, pics to follow.

I absolutely love that amazing car!! Its my favourite Vette ever! How much are we talking about to do a Restomod to that standard/spec if I may ask?

Depends what your after massively if your keeping everything stock apart from colour and wheels then not much different to any resto but if your talking engine suspension interior cooling system etc then price would clearly increase as a ball park idea we are about to do a body off c3 paint and full chassis strip blast powdercoat tidy up of engine (not a rebuild ) the a refit . Roughly low to mid £20k mark plus the new parts owner wishes us to fit at time of putting back together . To do full restomod you would looking around £35 k with interior plus your engine/gearbox suspension parts but again I got a car here that the interior bespoke retrim (just trimming not making the interior ) has come in from a trimming company at £12k so as said all can vary massively on spec

Have you contacted Mick the Fish about parts? He had some nice stuff at the Nationals which I'll admit I was C2 focussed on but I'm sure he had C1 parts as well. Adrian Dromey has a C1 hard top

It’s MicktheFish who is sending the car down to me as I type! 😁
Nice!

I spied a rebuilt 4b Holley carb in his pile o parts at the Nats and thought hmm that looks familiar and sure enough it was the correct carb and numbers for my '66 427 of which the original needs a rebuild. Took it home, bolted on and boom first crank fired right up. It was meant to be 🙏

The 59 was delivered this afternoon, unused since the 1980’s and it shows!
A big thank you to MicktheFish for brokering the deal and John Mayes for offering storage without hesitation.
Here’s todays pics, please put on your rose tinted glasses.

I went through the restomod process a few years ago and worked with Claremont Corvette to take a 62 C1 to RHD! I spent a lot of time on specification and parts plus have maintained it since. Happy to help if you want to speak if you want to go down the restomod route. For a pure original restore there are much more knowledgeable people around.
