Hi all. Probably accept this may be a dumb question but the gear shifter on my 2006 C6 periodically comes apart! The plastic top cover that slides into the body and the trigger mechanism comes off. It's very easy to put back on and, if it means you are stuck in gear, then a press on the little spring inside the boot of the shifter does the trick. I want to get a new knob (the child in me is smiling) and just wanted to check that: This is pretty much a universal part and a job that a novice could complete?
