There is fuses and also a relay for brake lights, in both the fuse panel in the engine bay and
the fuse panel by the BCM which is in the hatch of the floor on passenger side
Should be a label under that fuse panel as to each circuit and relay for brake lights

Could be the switch on brake pedal is out of adjustment, could jumper the 2 wires and then see if lights go on
Check #5 fuse by BCM, or swap the relay with one of the others for a test

Yes, any relay of the same shape would allow you then to test if the relay was at fault
but make sure you checked the fuse for the relay first to see if that is the problem

The controller there is the BCM so be sure connectors firmly in as the brake pedal switch plugs into it

Also, when down there look at the wiring closely to be sure some mouse, rat, etc has not been eating the wiring
and that all the relays are firmly plugged in and all wiring connectors
Check that it is dry, that A/C has not leaked water in there

Here is wiring from the brake pedal to the BCM, so if need be you can debug the switch there
Assure C is getting +5 volts, A is a reference to ground and B is output of switch when pedal is pushed down
You should then be able to assure those wires are properly getting what is needed and could jumper switch
to see if lights then come on or not

Wiring from the BCM brake relay to ass end for stop (brake) lights
Check wiring harness connector closely and the ground splice pack

ok should have put in that the vette was converted to uk lights ! looked at bcm area and relay did swap, checked fuses under bonnet no 5 i believe all good . but in bcm area i cant seem to find the fuse that you mentioned . i have totally no knowledge of car electrics further than checking fuses and bulbs , ;-(

That changes everything
You will have to either find the installation document for how those were converted or trace down the wiring
as maybe some splice came loose.

Check around page 420 of owner's manual shows location of all fuses and relays
