chrome plated wheel refurbishment?

does anybody know somewhere that can refurbish chrome plated wheels

When i had my C5 Z06 i had the wheels stripped then powdercoated.
Had a light sand blast then coated, didn't take the copper off though.
The local chroming guy was a bit of an arse, took some persuading just to strip the chrome, that's why I went powdercoat.

$6,000 HRE rims on my 1999 C5
Came anodized black,
but heat transferred from the brakes during racing and the color bleed out and looked like real crap :mad:

. About 16 years ago I had them powder coated black glossy, and they still look like new

I don’t think they’re chrome plated. A quick google suggests they only sold polished wheels. Makes it easier if it’s true.

Some factory rims are merely polished but some are actually plated. Most shops tell you they cannot be powder coated, but they can, it's just that there's an awful lot more work involved in the stripping.
