I attended the Vauxhall and retro day at our local drag stip in Crail. I took my LS1 powered Minor and my son had my Rover 3.9 powered one. He got the usual times expected, perhaps just fractionaly off it 's best at 14.6 @94, but my car's performance was well down on its best and repeatable 12.2 @116mph, with a best of 13.2@109 mph. Car just seemed flat somehow and it developed a ticking noise. I thought it sounded like a drive belt, but taking it off made no difference, and it seemed to be running on 7.
I had a look yesterday and discovered a plug lead had come off on the N/S at the rear, but only reachable by removing a bulkhead panel, or removing a wheel. On inspection the MSD lead looks to have disintegrated where it attaches to the coil and it was sparking loudly. An old lead fitted and it's back to normal - thankfully. Hopefully times are back to normal.
