Head light switch

hi , was fiddling with my headlamp switch to brighten my instrument lights and I pulled it out too far and the knob came off. I think I just un threaded it whilst turning up the dash lights , is it broken or is the knob seperate from the switch? Many thanks👍

Not sure if your switch is the same as mine, but on a 78 you can pull the switch out of the housing along with the rod. You have to press a spring loaded plunger to do this, yours might have been stuck in. This photo shows my switch in bits before I repaired it.

Thanks for that, I put it back in and am more gentle putting the lights on , it still works as it should. I would have to remove the switch to get to the plunger i presume? 👍
