It seems the WSR are trialling Hybrid Steam Trains

As you can see, "Watchet station is a smoke free site", so I presume they switch off the steam engine and run on battery power alone whilst at the station. Chuffer, do you have any thoughts on this fuel saving measure?

Cracking locos those GWR ` Manor `Class locos . As a fireman and then a driver I worked on `Hinton Manor ` , `Bradley Manor` and ` Erlestoke Manor ` many a time over the years . I think the new form of steam generation being tried out is by using all the hot air spouted by polititians and the Greenies about climate change and electric vehicles instead of coal .

Certainly is a lovely loco. I see that one quite often on the line. Also Large Prairie 5199 was running on the day I went.
