It start all in Oxford - experimental traffic regulation order (ETRO)

Well, anyone can explain to me what's going on with people? I understand climate change, but force to pay a fee every time you go out of your area is insane, In Oxford (ETRO) is already Live since the installation of the LTN system. They want to do this for the whole London and major town as well. I lived in Cambridge for 7 years and on the edge of the town there are the Park and ride parking space, where you can leave your car and take the bus to the city centre if you want... and make sense.

But now they plan to upgrade the traffic light with camera that automatically make you a ticket if you are not in your district, well you can avoid this with paying a fee, but if I want to cross many districts this cost a fortune? and on top of that, you need to plan exactly your journey?! This sound like a Sci-Fi movie!!!

Anyone has news about this topic because maybe the newspaper usually exaggerate the news to sell more.

As with Londons Congestion Charge, HGV LEZ Zone, ULEZ Zone and now ULEZ expansion later this year........they are controlled by 'left', Socialist, Tree Hugging, Green and Labour party members, so don't expect any changes in actions or logic from them.
Even more worrying is Starmers Labour speech this week explaining how they will devolve many central governement administrative functions over to local authorities (much as was done with London's first mayoral appointmen, Ken Livingstone, followed by Boris and now Khan).........that will be effectively like 'letting the lunatics out of the asylum' and opening-up all kinds of opportunities for tin-pot local officals and lefty control freaks to totally dominate our daily lives.
Take a look on-line on Facebook pages at Action Against ULEZ Expansion and similar groups to see the strength of feeling........not applicable for you in Oxford but it will give you ideas re. setting-up or contributing to a local protest group.

Well I mentioned Oxford, because they put in place (ETRO) as it is without any common sense adjustment. I'm living in south London now... and my Council is against this plan. But the mayor office said that they can enforce the plan, upgrading the traffics light anyway.... Insane!!!

A system very similar I understand is being rolled out this year in Milan and its suburbs, where drivers (with non-compliant vehicles) have to pay each time they enter a series of different zones - all monitored by cameras......

Well, I Read the Milan council guideline... The city is made like 3 onion rings. Like the London Zone 1 to 9, in Milan in zone C (equal to zone 1 in London) you can't "ENTER" unless you have a full electric car or others protected categories and you need to pay, this make sense is Zone 1!! Is not the same what they want to do Here. I mean, they want to divide the town and city in districts in arbitrary way, or areas base on council, regardless of the access to city centre. Even if I want to avoid the city centre, I need to pay a fee anyway because I'm "LEAVING" my district, or I want to leave the town to make a proper journey, in my case how many fees I need to pay to get out from London and enter another town that has its own regulation like Oxford?!! This make no sense at all!!!

Strange isn't it that a 'University' city like Oxford with a pro-rata resident population of people supposedly of higher intelligence than all other towns and cities in the UK (excluding perhaps Cambridge)............should come up with a crazy, difficult system........but with so many lecturers historically being left wing Marxists and the like what do we expect? Oddly Cambridge proposed and almost implimented a non-car usage system 20 or 30 years ago but it was abandoned ultimately (presumably in favour of its current 'park and ride' system)
BTW the Milan system seems to less stringent on diesel vehicle emissions that London's ULEZ.

I hate this insidious creep to mass control. And we all just accept it, I hate also that these massive descisions are taken by the few in power in local and national government.
Nobody asked if we wanted to be forced out of petrol and diesel cars in a stupidly short time and pushed into ill thought through ev’s . No one asked us if we want our cities and towns devided into zones and to to be controlled in our every move and fined if we step outside the line. I am so glad I am not in my twenties , the future is looking ominous .

Probably the result of a committee based decision. :):)

Then we have, so called, smart meters and Rishi's pet project of Central Bank Digital Currencies. Then we'll really be controlled.
